Here in San Bernardino it gets pretty darn hot in the summer. It’s nice to be able to enjoy the scenery with out having to experience the heat. A sunroom in the summer is a great way to experience the outdoors with out actually being outdoors. Sitting and doing daily activities such as reading or working on the computer can be a lot more fun if done in the light of the sun. Sunlight is said to boost happiness and benefit overall health. Our bodies turn sunlight into vitamin D so sitting in the sunroom can have a great positive impact on both physical and mental health. I know I prefer to be happy over not happy so sitting in a sunroom where I can relax on my days off or while I work on something important is a great way to spend my afternoons.
It is great during the winter because I don’t have to be out in the cold damp wet weather to get some light. It brightens up the house and allows me to see the landscape that makes for better living. I especially love the sunroom in the summer because I can enjoy the golden rays of the sun and reap the benefits of the sun without having to go outside and deal with allergies and the heat. I love looking at all those beautiful summer flowers but my allergies don’t allow me to actually go outside so the sunroom allows me to enjoy them without the effects of the pollen causing me such discomfort that usually attacks me when I am outside.
If you have small children, the sunroom makes a good play room because just as it is healthy for adults to be in the sunlight it is also healthy for children to play in the sunlight. When you don’t have time to take them outside they can play in the sunroom where there is lots of light and get all the rays they may need while you are busy about cleaning the house or working on a special project. The sunroom in the summer also makes a great way to keep a watchful eye on older children while they play outside while you sit comfortably in the air conditioning while reading a book or working on an over due project.
